In 2001 three Mexican guitarists –Mauricio González, Rodrigo Herrera and Josué Gutiérrez- formed the Trio Nahual after having different cultural backgrounds and being united by the same musical education in the University of Veracruz, Mexico.
Moving to Italy allowed them to proceed with guitar and chamber music studies under the chair of the Maestro Paolo Pegoraro and the Maestro Stefano Viola at the “Francisco Tárrega” Guitar Academy of Pordenone. They also achieved the Diploma with the highest grades at the “A. Steffani” Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto and the II Level Academic Degree in Music Disciplines at the “J. Tomadini” Conservatory of Udine.
In 2007 the “Francisco Tárrega” Guitar Academy granted the Trio with the Merit Diploma. Furthermore, with their participation at the music courses imparted by Mo Oscar Ghiglia at the Chigiana Academy of Siena, they received the Merit Diploma, as well as the “C. Corsini & F. Basacca” Special Award assigned by the Rotary Club of Siena.
They have attended several chamber music courses, seminars, workshops and masterclasses imparted by Giampaolo Bandini, Filippo Faes, Eduardo Fernandez, Oscar Ghiglia, Ilario Gregoletto, Stefano Grondona, Tilman Hoppstock, Carlo Marchione, Pablo Marquez, Christine Meyr, Alberto Ponce, Marco Socias, Pavel Steidl and Carles Trepat.
A mutual understanding and a wholehearted sense of teamwork distinguish Trio Nahual’s numerous concerts throughout Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Mexico, within notorious international guitar festivals and chamber music seasons. Moreover, the trio has received prizes and recognitions from national and international guitar and chamber music competitions, such as:
